Survey Field Technician
Job Description:
VEI is seeking a qualified candidate for our Survey Field Technician position at our Fredericksburg, Texas, location. Will have daily customer interactions across the Hill Country.
Position will be responsible for all aspects of project control including field data collection, topographical surveys, and construction staking, etc.
FULL TIME
Requirements:
VEI uses Trimble equipment, GPS surveying, and AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and MS Office software.
Compile data necessary to stake projects for construction using engineering plans.
Adjust and operate surveying instruments.
Run rods for benches and cross-section elevations.
Record survey measurements and descriptive data, using notes, drawings, sketches, and linked tracings.
Search for section corners, property irons, and survey points.
Operate and manage land-information computer systems, performing tasks such as storing data, making inquiries, and producing plots and reports.
Set out and recover stakes, marks, and other monumentation.
Compare survey computations with applicable standards in order to determine adequacy of data.
Collect data needed to carry out new surveys, using source maps, previous survey data, photographs, computer records, and other relevant data.
Perform manual labor, such as cutting brush for lines, carrying stakes, rebar, and other heavy items, and stacking rods.
Maintain equipment and vehicles used by surveying crews.
Work outdoors in a variety of terrain, wildlife, and weather conditions.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Civil CAD Designer/ CAD Technician
Job Description:
VEI is seeking a motivated CAD Designer / CAD Technician to join our growing team.
If you enjoy creating detailed drawings, solving problems, and working on real-world projects that make an impact, we’d love to hear from you. This team member will be performing plan production for civil engineering projects related to Transportation and Public Infrastructure. We are seeking two (2) year technical/associates degree OR two to five (2-5) years of experience as a CAD Technician, Drafter, Designer, or Engineering Technician.
FULL TIME
Requirements:
At least ONE YEAR of AutoCAD experience
Civil 3D experience is a plus
Proficient in specialized civil design applications for AutoCAD software.
Proficient in other widely used computer applications (i.e., Microsoft Office).
Basic knowledge of computer file directories and use.
Fundamental understanding of civil engineering plan and profile development for public infrastructure projects, including the ability to interpret, prepare, and coordinate construction plans for roadway, drainage, water, wastewater, and related municipal infrastructure improvements.
Able to assist in the preparation of construction quantity and cost estimates.
Strong attention to detail
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to manage time and meet deadlines
